Following the successful installation of the first SFA cross-belt grade analyzer at the Al Taweelah carbon plant in 2021, EGA has once again placed an order for two SFA grade analyzers this year. These analyzers will be used to measure the recycled anode materials at both Phase 2 of the Al Taweelah carbon plant and the Jebel Ali carbon plant, enabling EGA to optimize its anode consumption.
Previously, EGA relied on manual measurements in the laboratory, involving sample collection and processing. This process took far too long, making it impossible to respond promptly to changes in the composition of spent anodes. Moreover, the laboratory samples lacked sufficient representativeness to accurately reflect compositional variations—at the ppm level—of certain components, such as high-sodium bath materials. Under these circumstances, the only viable solution was an online analyzer.
At EGA’s carbon plant, discarded anodes are processed through a crusher and a screening machine. As a result, the analysis results obtained by the SFA analyzer are more representative than those from physical samples collected directly from the conveyor belt, achieving accuracy at the ppm level.
The SFA near-infrared ore grade analyzer is the only online compositional analyzer supplier capable of measuring the concentrations of organic, inorganic, and mineralogical components. By providing real-time results on the mineralogy, elemental composition, and moisture content of bulk materials to the mining industry, the SFA ore grade analyzer has become an industry leader in real-time compositional monitoring and advanced process control.
