Online measurement of bauxite grade has been achieved.

Online measurement of bauxite grade (including Al₂O₃, SiO₂, Fe₂O₃, etc.) is highly valuable in both mining operations and the alumina (Bayer process) industry. However, it is also widely recognized within the industry as one of the most challenging online analyses to achieve accurate and long-term stability.

Breakthrough in Slurry Density/Solid Content Measurement Technology

Slurry density is particularly critical in the mineral processing industry, as it affects grinding concentration, hydrocyclone classification efficiency, flotation stability, thickener control, and more. However, accurate online measurement has always been extremely challenging.

The challenge of feed flow rate in hydrocyclones?

Wear and mineral variability in the hydrocyclone feed pipeline can cause signal instability, ultimately leading to the failure of electromagnetic flowmeters. Coarse particulate matter, under high-flow conditions, can rapidly erode the electrodes and flow tubes within the electromagnetic flowmeter. This results in distorted flow measurements, hindering the optimization of cyclone performance and throughput. Ultimately, such measurement failures and/or leaks may necessitate frequent and costly replacements of the flowmeters.

How is the flow rate of magnetic slurry measured?

Because commonly used electromagnetic flowmeters or Doppler ultrasonic flowmeters cannot effectively overcome the challenges posed by flows containing magnetic slurries, the magnetic particles in magnetite cause significant and erratic deviations in the measurement results of magnetic flowmeters due to fluctuations in magnetic field strength, making compensation impossible. Doppler ultrasonic flowmeters struggle to maintain high accuracy and stability over the long term. When the slurry contains relatively large particles, wear and tear can lead to electrode failures and pipeline leaks, thereby affecting measurement accuracy. Such failures often result in unscheduled repairs and replacements, driving up production costs.

The sonar flowmeter for the Tonkiri iron ore mine in Sierra Leone has been installed and commissioned.

The Tonkiri Iron Ore Project is one of the key cooperation projects between China and Sierra Leone. Located in the Tonkiri mining area in the Northern Province of the Republic of Sierra Leone, it is one of the world’s largest single-body magnetite deposits. The second-phase beneficiation project involves the construction of a beneficiation plant with an annual capacity of 12 million tons, designed to mine and process iron ore from the transition layer.
