Following the successful installation of the first SFA cross-belt grade analyzer at the Al Taweelah carbon plant in 2021, EGA has once again placed orders for two additional SFA grade analyzers this year. These units will be used to measure anode-recycled materials at Phase 2 of the Al Taweelah carbon plant and at the Jebel Ali carbon plant, thereby optimizing anode consumption.
Previously, EGA relied on collecting and processing samples for manual measurements in the laboratory, a process that was time‑consuming and prevented timely responses to changes in the composition of spent anodes. Moreover, the laboratory samples lacked sufficient representativeness to capture ppm‑level variations in component concentrations, such as those associated with high‑sodium bath materials. Under these circumstances, the only viable solution is an online analyzer.
At EGA’s carbon plant, spent anodes are processed through a crusher and a screening unit; as a result, the SFA analyzer delivers results that are more representative than those obtained from physical samples collected directly from the conveyor, achieving precision at the ppm level.
The SFA near-infrared ore grade analyzer is the only supplier of online compositional analyzers capable of measuring the concentrations of organic and inorganic materials as well as mineralogical components. By delivering real-time results on the mineralogical, elemental, and moisture composition of bulk materials to the mining industry, the SFA ore grade analyzer has become an industry leader in real-time compositional monitoring and advanced process control.
